EMDR Therapy is a psychotherapy treatment widely used to heal trauma, PTSD,  psychological stress and persistent negative emotions.  It involves a series of bilateral eye movements occurring while the patient focuses on the trauma.

EMDR therapy helps the brain process distressing memories and desensitize them, so that the emotion attached to them is toned down and its impact reduced.

I use a combination of EMDR, Neuro Linguistic Programming and other cognitive techniques to optimise the efficiency and long term benefits of the treatment. 

I am a fully trained and accredited psychotherapist and Master Practitioner in NLP and Hypnotherapy.

EMDR is an extremely effective treatment that can achieve results much more rapidly than other psychotherapies. Extensive research has evidenced and documented the success of the therapy. It does not involve extensive talking about trauma or distressing issues, but rather facilitates the natural healing process of the brain.

How Does EMDR Work?

The brain has a processing system that turns experiences into memories and integrates them in a way that we will remember things with appropriate emotion. Sometimes however, a particular event cannot be processed in that way and the memory gets stuck. The memory can then be triggered by every day events, and reawaken the emotional  response associated to it.

EMDR 'plunges' the brain to enable the natural process to take place and gets the memory unstuck. It allows it to be stored in the right place and desensitized, so that the experience is still remembered, but without triggering an acute emotional response.
